We are located in Ganges, at 238 Park Drive, just a 7-minute walk from the centre of town. In pre-pandemic times Jayne taught from the studio. Now she offers several Iyengar yoga classes each week either online or at Ganges Yoga Studio (See Classes Page for details).
Guests of Hedgerow House and students of yoga on Salt Spring are all welcome. Our studio is bright and airy, warm in winter, and open to the garden in summer.
Classes are suitable for students of all levels, from beginners to those who already practice yoga. I look forward to seeing you here.
Jayne has practised yoga since she was a teen. She loves the balance it brings to her life, complementing her active lifestyle and the sports she practices. Yoga encourages a full range of motion, better balance and alignment, helping prevent injury. Wherever she goes she takes classes and finds great local instructors. Having lived in England, Kenya, and France before Canada she has had an opportunity to study with many inspiring teachers. Since discovering Iyengar yoga 25 years ago, she has studied in India with the Iyengar family twice, with Usha Devi in Rishikesh, and has taken workshops with many well-known Iyengar teachers from all over the world including Gabriella Giubilaro, Father Joe, Marlene Mawhinney, Linda Shevloff, Raya Uma Datta, and Zubin Zarthoshtimanesh. Her aim is to distill the best of her experience into her teaching to bring energy and balance to her classes.
“Be inspired but not proud.”
"As a beginner in yoga, I hesitated joining a class with Yoga in Salt Spring. It was wonderful! Jayne put me at ease right away and was hands on. I learned so much about positioning myself to get the best results.”

Jayne teaches Iyengar yoga classes on Salt Spring Island, BC. Iyengar yoga is a form of hatha yoga that is easy for most students to access. Whether you’re new to yoga, still in the early stages, or looking to learn more advanced poses, Iyengar yoga has something for you. In Iyengar yoga we use props such as bricks, straps, blankets and bolsters to help students attain poses or ‘asanas’ safely. Iyengar yoga emphasizes precision and alignment to integrate the body, mind and breath.
To become a certified Iyengar teacher, student teachers follow a training program that lasts 3-5 years. You can be sure that you are in good hands with a safe, experienced instructor when you choose an Iyengar yoga teacher.
When BKS Iyengar published his famous book Light On Yoga in 1966, in which he details over 200 poses, he introduced people around the world to yoga . ‘Guruji’, as his students called him, practised yoga daily until his death in August 2014 at the age of 95. BKS Iyengar left an immense legacy: Time Magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2004.
