FAQ

Get the most out of your online yoga experience with Jayne Lloyd Jones.
Go to the Schedule and choose the class that suits you: live in-person class, recorded class (or, depending on the protocols from the BC Minister of Health, there might be Zoom classes.)
(While I am not teaching classes on Zoom right now, I may do again in the future. These instructions will be relevant at that point. ) If you’re using a desktop computer you can choose to download the free Zoom app or join by browser, if you prefer not to install the app. Try Chrome and Firefox first.
If you’re on a mobile device, such as a tablet or android, you must download the free app.
The quality of the live streaming you experience will depend on your Internet connection. You can check your bandwidth at Speedtest.net
A computer with webcam is ideal; you can see the teacher better and she can see you. However, a tablet (such as iPad) is also fine, but smaller and harder to position.
Position the device at waist height or higher and about 10 ft away. The ideal view for me is of your entire body, whether you are lying on your mat or standing up. However, if your screen is small you will not be able to see the detail of the poses I demonstrate. So you’ll have to decide on the optimum position for the camera, mid-way between me seeing you, and you seeing me.
If you turn your camera on, I can see you to correct and guide your poses. If the camera is off, I cannot see you, so you have to practice safely and take care of yourself.
If you do not have the actual prop, you can substitute with items you find at home:
· Mat
· Bricks (boxes or books)
· Blankets (towels)
· Strap (necktie or belt)
· Bolster (multiple blankets, firm pillows)
· Chair
Before you attend an online, recorded or live class you must sign a waiver. I will send you the waiver by email once I hear from you.
Send me an Interac e-transfer by email, indicating the class you would like to take, including date and time.
For Zoom classes, I will send you an invitation to join the class the day before. This will contain a unique Zoom link.
To maintain simple and efficient accounting, I generally apply a no-refund, no make-up policy. However, for medical emergencies and other unforeseen events please contact me.
You can pay for any number of classes, live, recorded or Zoom. Most students opt for a series of 4 live classes at once, or two recorded classes per month.
When joining a Zoom class, just click on the link in my emailed invitation. You’ll be able to open the app, or join by browser if on a computer.
Please arrive five to 10 minutes before the start time. You will be in my ‘waiting room’ and I will let you enter. Before the class starts use that time to make sure your camera is set up and your props are ready.
· Turn on your camera (unless you choose not to be seen).
· Mute your microphone after checking in. If you need to speak during class, unmute yourself.
· Select “active speaker” view, so that you see only me, and not “gallery view,” which shows all students.
Adequate bandwidth is important to get the most out of your yoga class. However if you lose the connection, you can continue with audio only, by calling the telephone number on the Zoom invitation you received.
The classes are intended for All Levels. I will give options to help you move towards your potential.
Typically there are up to 10 students in classes.
